(‘Justitia Amplificata’ Postdoctoral Fellows)
This conference theorizes domination across borders in its conceptual, normative, historical, and institutional dimensions. The revival of the republican tradition of thought has again brought domination to the foreground as a central theoretical concern. With some notable exceptions, however, normative debates about domination have remained limited to the context of domestic politics. The conference aims to widen the focus of these debates by (1) extending them to the transnational and global levels, and (2) considering how domination (and other related notions) are conceptualized by different perspectives on politics.
